What Color is Tan?
Tan (hex code #D2B48C) is a multipurposal color, often referred to as a neutral hue and classified in the brown family. Tan has many warm shades that range from almost golden beige or light yellowish tan to a dark taupe-like grey with hints of green blended into it. In simpler terms, tan can best be defined as "a medium shade between ochre and buff".
It is most commonly associated with sandy beaches, Western palettes (especially Southwestern style home decor), cowhide rugs, leather goods like wallets and boots; but also for items such interiors walls and textiles. Tan is an excellent choice for a room color, as it blends into many other colors and creates a cozy atmosphere.
However be sure not to pair tan with too much of the same shade; otherwise your space can appear bland or washed out. A great way to make use of this neutral hue is by using small pops of brighter tones such as yellow, cyans, blues and greens to create contrast against the creamy base tone created by tan.
